2012/3 our

11th Season

Towards the end of the (2009/10) season we hosted a party from the Grand Prairie Polo Club in Canada. They have very kindly allowed us to prepare a slide show of their visit. I think it captures the spirit of La Julia very well. I hope you enjoy it. You can click the link to it,

This was followed by a very successful 2010 northern summer season in Canada

Happy Guests

The Purton family’s memories from last season 2010/11>>

Welcome to guest memories.  You will be able to see that Alejandro Polo at La Julia caters for all ages and all abilities.  We welcome and have activities for both players and any non players in the party.

What the press has said

From PQ International

Having spent the last thirty years breeding polo ponies, and playing in Argentina, America and Europe, Alejandro Staudt is now one of Argentina's top trainers. His advice is simple: "Don't hang up your sticks and boots for the winter. The quiet season is an unmissable opportunity to raise your games a level." A gaucho in his early days, Alejandro believes that players can benefit from the principles used to train the best ponies to do their job. Every trainer knows the value of, periodically, taking a pony back to basics -to reinforce its understanding and response to what is being asked of it. The same, he says, applies to top athletes in every sport, and polo is no exception.

Alejandro, Thank you so much for giving us an authentic taste of Argentina you have a little piece of paradise here at La Julia and we have enjoyed our holiday very much. Your hospitality was amazing and we look forward to returning again one day soon.

Good food, good wine. Great people, and yes Fabulous Polo

Looking forward to making (….) at home in Canada

Alejandro, Thanks you for an amazing week at your home and retreat. Your hospitality was second to none and you truly made us feel at home here at La Jullia....

I went on one of Alejandro’s first polo holidays and have been back several times since, both on my own and as part of a group. Either way you are sure to find good company and improve your polo.

He is an excellent and patient coach and a very good host.

I am currently living in Australia and hope to visit La Julia on a trip back to the UK.

I wasn't sure what I was letting myself in for, as I'd never played polo before, but I had a fantastic time.  I joined in my fist instructional chukkas by day five of the visit, and I also bought two ponies and started playing back in England.

My teenage daughter went out on her own and had a wonderful time.  She was looked after from the moment the plane touched down and was picked up at the airport.  Her self-confidence has improved as much as her polo.

A grateful mother.

Alejandro. Thank you so very much for your generous hospitality and generosity of spirit during our stay here at La Julia. You have given us an experience of a lifetime and many (fond) memories to take home with us. All of the people who are all lucky to have each other to run your beautiful Estancia.

I will especially miss Andreas, (a very good man!)

Laura, and Natalia. Looking forward to seeing you this summer in Canada. Best wishes to you!

Thank you so much for an amazing holidays. I have loved every minute of it.

The horses have been wonderful and I feel my polo has improved a lot.

Now when I go back to England I can say I played my first chukkas in Argentina!

The food has been incredible and all the people so nice and friendly.

I look forward very much to my next visit to La Julia

Thank you again for such a fantastic time

Steve

Alejandro, I don’t think I could have learned to play polo in a better place and I certainly didn’t think I would ever learn play polo any were, but did learn and I’m glad I’ve learned here. While I have been here I haven’t met anyone who I didn’t like. The food has been excellent alongside with excellent tuition and wonderful horses has made this a holiday to remember.  I thank you with all my heart and I clearly hope to come again next year and in my (gap) year.

Once again thanks to you, all the staff and my wonderful horse

Last winter I took time off from Uni to join my parents and younger brother on a family holiday to La Julia. It was one our best ever.  My polo improved no end and even mother greatly enjoyed it and she does not play.
